Fire and Blood 6

Being the spoilertastic review of House of the Dragon episode six. The review that only discusses events up to that episode is here. But in this post, I'm going to start off by immediately talking about the next major death that will occur in the series, probably in Episode 7. So go away if you don't want those sorts of spoilers.

So, Daemon's going to have Laenor killed, huh? I mean, the show has been going with the worst possible option of every enigmatic event so far (Daemon killed Rhea Royce, which wasn't hinted at in the book; Larys killed his father and brother, which was). Wonder how Rhaenyra's gonna feel about that. But it doesn't really sound like she views him as anything other than an asset. Daemon's a far better one.

So... Aemond, who will have to "close an eye" to get a dragon. Who is introduced in the same episode as a certain extremely famous dragon suddenly finds herself without a rider. Gosh, what mean?

Only other big book spoiler, and it's a doozy: Caraxes and Vhagar flying together at the start? Yeah, next time they do that, they'll kill each other.

Future predictions:

"Driftmark" (October 2nd, 2022)/"The Lord of the Tides" (October 9th, 2022) (120 AC (book; the show could push this out to 125ish)) - obviously these both focus on Corlys and his family. And his family tragedies. I'm actually wondering if "The Lord of the Tides" is going to be a whole episode flashback focusing on Corlys, since he is one of the major players and his screentime until now has been... limited. I mean, really, this isn't The Rings of Power, it's not going to take two episodes to cover "Laenor dies and Aemond loses an eye." How late can they push this, realistically? Rhaenyra's first son by her second husband is present for key events in 130 and 131 (he doesn't have to do much except stand around and look cute/scared, but still), and has to be born around now. Which means you need an actor who's old enough to be in certain intense scenes to play him, which means he needs to be a certain age by 131; I just don't know what that age is. Speaking of the kids, Aemond can't lose his eye until after Laena dies, but presumably that'll happen will lose his eye around now.

"The Green Court" (October 16th, 2022)/"The Black Queen" (October 23rd, 2022) (129 AC) - Viserys dies. It'd be cool if these two episodes largely cover the same event(s), with "Green Court" staying in King's Landing and "Black Queen" staying on Dragonstone.

Post-Craig Review: Dr. No

Back to the very beginning. This is a lie. "The beginning" would surely be a review of Ian Fleming's 1953 novel Casino Royale...
